The Nanotechnology Research Center at the University of Technology held The Specialized Scientific Symposium on the applications of nanotechnology in biomedical fields

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Research Center held a scientific symposium on (Nanotechnology applications in bio-medical fields) on18/5/2017 in the presence of a number of heads of scientific departments, directors of centers and representatives of Iraqi universities.

The scientific symposium was opened by the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, who stressed in a speech on the occasion the need to open up to the industrial and productive sector, especially the oil sector, and to work to promote the applications of nanotechnology in oil and gas projects. He added that the University of Technology has achieved a lot of important scientific achievements and the most recent was the exhibition of energy inventions, which was held by the Ministry of Oil, during which the University received a large collection of medals and awards.

The scientific symposium was chaired by Prof. Dr. Wessam Kadhm Hamdan, Head of the Department of Medical Engineering and Assist. Lecture Eissa Dham Chaloob. The symposium included three lectures, the first was entitled "Applications of Nanotechnology in Stem Cells and Textile Agriculture", delivered by Prof. Dr. Bahaa Al-Din Fakhri Hussein, Associate Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Baghdad, and Dr. Khairiya Kadhem Habib from College of Veterinary Medicine. The lecturer addressed the importance of tissue culture and stem cells in compensating limbs for living organisms, including humans.  The second lecture, entitled "Drag Delivery Using Magnetic Nanomaterials" Ali Abdul Wahab Aati from the Nanotechnology Research Center. , Which discussed the uses of nanotechnology and nanomaterials in the delivery of drugs and methods of treatment of cancerous diseases. The third lecture was entitled (Nano sections in the human body) delivered by Dr. Salah Hassan.

Dr. Khalid Ajmi Sukkar, Director of the Nanotechnology Center said that the Symposium, which is held annually by the Center, includes the latest scientific developments in the applications of nanotechnology in the field of bio medicine, through which appropriate solutions are developed to deal with many of the incurable diseases and the development of new drugs, Which is based on nanotechnology.

The scientific symposium came out with a number of scientific recommendations aimed at promoting the opening of horizons of scientific cooperation with the health sector in order to promote the use of nanotechnology nanomaterials to solve health problems and treat human cases.
