BIG Data and Business Intelligence Lecture



- A lecture take place at the computer science department in Wednesday 9th March 2016 at the main hall. Several attenders were involved into this lecture specially the dean of the department Dr. Hala Bahagt and her scientific and administrative assistances. Also participant from other departments were engaged into this activity mainly Dr. Mouaid Hasan the dean of mechanical engineering department, Dr. Dhary Yousef the dean of electrical engineering department, Dr. Wisam Hamdan dean of medical life engineering department and others.

The lecture has discussed the concept of business intelligence where it focused in the group of tools and techniques that transforms data into visual data included into business intelligence board in order to reflect business nature and its data that helps decision makers to make decisions. It clarifies major business intelligence target to increase profit, reduce expenses and cutting risks expected. Business intelligence adopts several techniques like data mining, predicting methodologies and user data analysis and others to establish the ground of facts that eventually leads to final target designed.

The Lecture has presented data rapid growth during last decades where, it raised big data problem that cannot be processed using traditional methodologies due to its characteristics and its huge amount. Several solutions proposed based in parallel processing and data analysis based in HADOOP station. Hadoop station is a programmable station works in Linux basis and computer networking that parallel data processing using MapReduce algorithm. The lecturers involved were DR. Hasanin Sameer and Saif Bashar as a researcher.
