UOT chess players get second place
Baghdad University is crowned of Iraqi universities Championship for Central Region students

University of Technology team won second place in Iraq's universities chess Championship for Central Region students, which concluded on Monday at professors hall of the University of Technology with the participation of 11 universities and colleges civil students which was attended by the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer al-Tamimi, administrative assistant professor Dr. Sami Waheed Hasnawi, scientific assistant professor Dr. Wisam Kazem Hamdan, director of the Department of Physical Education and artistic activity Dr. Mounir Mahmoud and the heads of the participating teams, the team of Baghdad University won the title.

University of Technology team got the second with 8 points the same points obtained by Yarmouk Faculty team of third-place, but the technological team won dur to a number of tables winning just one table for Yarmouk College depending on the system of draw breaking.

University of Technology team managed to win the Baghdad College of Economic Sciences, Almamoon college -0.5 and 3.5, Iraqi University 05/02 to 05/01, the central Technical University 4. Zero, but lost with the University of Baghdad zero and Yarmouk University College with 05/01 to 05/02

The university team was represented by Ali Abdul Karim and Marwan Issa, Mustafa Qusay and Ahmed Jassim.

Team of Baghdad University students won first place after collecting 12 points from winning all six rounds held in accordance with the Swiss system, the team Baghdad University beat teams of Mustansiriya University and the University of Diyala by 3-1, it also beat Al Yarmouk University College, University of Technology, Almamoon College and Alnahrain university by 4. Zero each, university team was represented by all of the students Aqeel Karim, Ali Abdul Karim, Amjad Alaa, Ali Shaker and Rami Abdul Razak

Yarmouk University College team managed to win the third place by defeating Alrafedain College 4. Zero, Diyala University 3.5 - 0.5, University of Technology 05/02 to 05/01 and tie with Almamoon college, Iraqi college and the University of Mustansiriya by resut of 2-2. university team was represented by Ali Fares, Saif Munther and Mustafa Mohsen and Mohammed Anwar

Regarding female competition, the students of Baghdad University won first place after collecting 7 points from 5 rounds after beating in three rounds at team of Diyala University and Mustansiriya 4. Zero, and by 3- zero against technology, and tied 2-2 with Iraqi university.

The Iraqi university female students won second place with 6 points by a draw with Mustansiriya University 2-2 ,wining over the University of Diyala 4- 3- and technology 3- zero. Mustansiriya University beat universities of Technology 3-1and Diyala 3.5 - 0.5 . University of Technology won over the University of Diyala 3.5 - 0.5.

At the end of the tournament, the president and administrative and scientific assistants distributed difference and individual awards to the winning teams.
The winners of the first place erpress their happiness achieving excellent results, which came due to support of their universities before praising the good organization.
Dr. Mounir Mahmoud, director of physical education and artistic activity in the University of Technology said that participation was successful and artistic level marked as competitive and exciting so that the resolution of the first centers did not know, but in the last two rounds, pointing to support of the President of the University of Technology and the daily follow-up before and during the tournament that had a positive effect in success.

He thanked all the universities that participated in and contributed to the success of the tournament as well as the Iraqi Chess Federation of the allocation of federal and international referees and participants to answer questions of the participants and to provide all the requirements of the game.
