Production Engineering Department grant a PhD to a student about the interaction of laser steel with cast iron study

A dissertation discussed "Sport Model, microstructure and properties of cast iron gray molten by laser" at Production and Metals Engineering Department at the University of Technology "for the student Rehab Hussein kinjer.
The study showed that the laser ability is the main dominant factor on the molten cast iron properties. And it used many mathematical models for geometry, fusion time and the highest temperature of the molten. These models are found effective in melting cast iron by gray laser to get all advantages that are relation to.
This dissertation focused on the study of laser steel interaction with cast iron through several approaches. And it has been treated by laser using Erbium laser type of 600 capacity watts and continuous wave under different variables and different levels by Taguchi design Test L 16B.
The results proved that have been obtained by optical microscope and Scanning Electronic Microscope "SEM" and X-ray diffraction "XRD" that main phases are formed is Alastnayat and Alsmontaat. Also she explained that the laser is capable of smelting gray cast iron of 200Hv hardness to produce a controlled depth of high hardness.
