The Geography and Importance of Iraqi Marshlands as a world Heritage Site.

The Marshlands are a group of wetlands that covers the delta at the south of Iraq. They lay on an area of 9000 km and can be traced back to the Sumerian Civilization 5000 years ago which makes it one of most unique places in the world. It is very rich with its wildlife and sea life environments, in addition to being the main storage of freshwater at the south of Iraq. For its special importance, The UNESCO agreed to enlist the Iraqi Marshlands on the World Heritage List on July 17th 2016 to remain as a protected world natural site.
