The Environment Research Center at the University of Technology organized a seminar which was presented by Eng. Ali Nasser titled "Magnetic Agriculture" in the presence of the Director of the Center and the staff of the Center..

He talked about the magnetic techniques which are used to generate a strong magnetic field exposed to seeds or plants to increase germination and growth rates and to resist conditions that are unsuitable for growth by means of specific devices. For example, there are devices used for magnetizing the seeds before germination to make them livelier. In some species such as palm and tomato during the stage of the magnetic field to improve the growth of these seedlings and the duration and strength of exposure depending on the purpose as well as depending on the quality of the plant material, whether seeds or seedlings.

 The advantages of magnetized water: Prevent the formation of calcareous deposits in the irrigation pipes and increase the rates of germination of seeds and increase the retention of soil water and increase the efficiency of irrigation and reduce the amount of irrigation by about 30% and raise the efficiency of salt washing in the soil and increase the efficiency of fertilizer which means less costs and fertilizer easier to absorb fertilizer and increase oxygen In the soil and helps solve the problem of compressing the soil, which accumulates over time and works to increase the growth of roots as a result of increased absorption of nutrients dissolved faster and thus helps to grow the plant and increase the average yield by 40-50% and reduce the proportion of plant disease by 60-70% For nematode infection kills larvae and where is the full insect from the root area.

The Materials Engineering Department at the University of Technology won the first prize of the International Scientific Conference on Renewable Energy and Technologies (TMREES18), which was held in Lebanon - Beirut from 1-3 February 2018 with the participation of more than 12 countries and 39 researches form Iraq of 18 researchers from different Iraqi universities represented by the University of Technology and the University of Baghdad and the University of Mustansiriya.

The Department of Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Technology held a seminar to discuss the research of high studies students in the discussion room on Wednesday 14/2/2018, in the presence of the both associates of the head of the department for scientific affairs and postgraduate studies, administrative affairs, branch heads and a number of professors and employees. The seminars discussed high studies students for the master's degree as part of the requirements for obtaining the degree and to determine the stages of completion of the work in the research.

The head of Petroleum Technology Department at the University of Technology, Prof.Dr. Aqeel Shaker met with the faculty and staff of the department with the presence of scientific associate Assist.Prof.Dr. Adel Sharif and administrative associate, Assist.Prof.Dr. Raid Naeem.

During the meeting, they discussed the importance of working as a team for the success of the department and improving the educational reality of the students, how to develop the scientific curricula of the department and the use of modern methods of teaching and activating the practical aspect of the specialization. He urged the teachers to complete and publish scientific research for the purpose of promotion and upgrading the level of the department.

Material Engineering Department held a general authority meeting and headed by the president of the technology university Asst.Prof.Dr.Ammen Dawie with the presence of the head of the department Asst.Prof.Dr. Ahmed Al-Gaban, both administrative and scientific associates and the faculty staff.

The President of the University referred to several important things, including the educational process and maintaining the reputation of the university and its development through keeping pace with the global transformations. This comes with the active contribution of researchers and technical and administrative staff. The success of any department of the university is reflected in the success and progress of the university. He also confirms the necessity to participate in the elections and the university is independent of political parties, and contributes to develop scientific research through publishing scientific researches in accordance with international classifications, also confirming on the participation of the lecturers in the 250 international scientific researches which may raise the university classification internationally, and calling the professors to form researches teams to transfer their experiences to other lecturers and this may lead to raise the level of scientific researched, and the necessity to use the electronic education system and complete all its requirements, facilitate the educational process. He also added that the university has goals and plans on the near and distant perspective, which enhance the process of development and advancement of the scientific level to serve the public interest, and guide some of the guidance and instructions for the University Day and the graduation ceremonies for the fourth stage and confirmation On the need to abide by the laws and instructions of the Ministry issued in this regard and to quest the violators.  At the end of the meeting, the university president listened to the questions and opinions of the teachers.

In turn, the Head of the Department, Dr. Ahmed Al-Gaban, stressed the need to abide by all instructions and directives directed by the Presidency of the University, wishing all the success and exerting more efforts to serve our dear country.
