This engineering branch deals with the application of
modern scientific basics in exploring and developing reservoirs
and developing the students’ abilities in various aspects such
as studying the basic properties of fluid and rocks, analyzing
the laboratory data and field data to use in calculating the
size of hydrocarbons in petroleum
reservoir, and study the types of oil traps and geology and
geophysics exploration methods.
It is
specialized in developing the engineering ability for the
students by studying the ultimate basic design of oil wells to
ensure its continuity of flow for many decades, studying
pressures in the vertical and horizontal pipes, and their
effects on flow rate of fluids in it. In addition, it concerns
also in evaluating the flow rate of energy loses in these pipes
as well as the secondary connections. This branch also concerns
with the separation processes of impurities associated with
hydrocarbons by using Insulators.
