The University of Technology has dispatched a number of professors in the petroleum technology department to Arbil province to participate in a workshop to apply the method of PBL and in collaboration with the University of Missouri and sponsored by the World Organization for Research and Cultural Exchange (IREX) for a period of 27-30 / 3/2016. The workshop included the application of this method and its effectiveness in the development of the learning process for the students and gaining experience in how to find engineering solutions in the working space. The workshop has touched many debates about how to cover this method of curriculum vocabulary and mechanisms for calculating assessments and how to present the educational problem of the students, and dividing them into working teams where each team coordinate to solve the problem and discuss the solution and other parallel solutions. At the end of the workshop, certificates have been distribution to the participants.

A number of the department teaching staff have participated in this workshop: Prof. Mohammed Saleh AlJawad, head of the department and Dr.. Ahmed Abdullah Ramadan, Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific Affairs and Dr.. Raed Naeem Huyen, Deputy Head of the Department for Administrative Affairs.
