Proceeding from the principle of scientific communication between academic institutions and work field, the petroleum technology department carried out a scientific visit for the students of the third stage to the Southern Oil Company in Basra for a period of 6-11 / 2/2016. The students were accompanied by the department teaching and engineering staff: Dr. Asawer Abdulresool,  Mr. Ahmed Saad and Mr Ali Anwar.

The curricula of the visit included heading toward oil Albrjssaih field where a lecture was delivering on safety by the staff of the South Oil Company and then the students were informed about the existing equipments in the drilling workshops. The visit included also the West Qurna field to observe the isolation units in it. After that, it was time to go to the Rumaila field, where the BP company staff presented a number of lectures to the students on drilling, production, reservoir and isolation stations as well as visiting two drilling towers in the Zubair oil field.
