On the occasion of the university day and within the Scientific Activities of the department, the department of petroleum technology held a Scientific Symposium entitled (engineering education by solving problems) and in the presence of President of the University, Prof. Amin Douai Thamer and a number of heads of academic departments and guests from the Ministry of Oil and the large gathering of faculty members and associates, dated on 14/04/2016 at al-Rumaila hall in extension building of the department.

The seminar included the word of the president of the university in which he stated that "the nation-building process depends on engineers that they own from an engineering mentality and high efficiencies which we are proud of all over the place which leads to the development of scientific institution, country and Iraqi society is going through a difficult and complicated stages, but the University of Technology and the spirit of team the work of the teaching staff and associates and students independent university serve the community through seminars and scientific conferences, then there are ground reliable ... a great belief that the future better and better it will be for the University a major role in building the future of the country .. ", praising such seminars, which return scientific benefit everyone.

And then he threw a department head Prof. Mohammed Jawad Saleh speech: that the issue of engineering education in the world has a great importance and the dimensions at the global level, indicating levels of education within the educational pyramid of remembering and understanding and assessment, analysis and creativity, followed by the word Scientific Associate d. Ahmed Abdullah, who gave a brief summary of how students learn the material subjects by solving the problem and then threw Associate Administrator d. Raed Naeem lecture on how the PBL and how students' reliance on the sources and the Internet to find solutions to a range of complex questions by dividing students into groups for giving them the knowledge and experience, a student in this way is the foundation takes the basic concepts and come out the information and solutions himself.
