The scientific meeting about dealing with radioactive sources and methods of protection from radiation

Sponsored by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Ali al-Adeeb, , held research and development directorate  in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with the University of Technology, a scientific meeting on the handling of radioactive sources and methods of prevention of radiation on Tuesday the 10 of May 2011, in the university of technology theater and in the presence of the president of university Dr. professor Khahtan Khalaf, university assistant president dr. Ahmed Ali Mussa and Dr. Hussien Salam Keetan, Dr. Khaled Ajmy sakar and the number of scientific department s in the university of technology, Besides a number of directors and represented of Iraqi universities. Dr. Khaled Ajmy Sakar gave a word on behalf of head of scientific and research directorate (Dr. Mohamed Abd  Ataya Al-Saraj(

This meeting has dealt with a number of sections such as:

1.      Spreading the culture of handling of radioactive sources in the universities.

2.      Protecting the environment and health from negative effects of radition sources and radioactive pollution.

3.      Peaceful uses of radioactive sources in scientific research and prevention of radiation.

4.      On-site radiological emergency plans.

A number of organizations have participated in this meeting, (the Iraqi Board of Control of Radioactive Sources ),and the University of Basra, Kufa University and the University of Babylon and the University of Al Muthanna in addition to the University of Technology.
