Abstract:
Homogenous charge compression igntion (HCCI) is an atractive alternative combustion mode for ICE that offers the potential for high diesel- like officiencies and dramatic reduction in NOx and PM. Since the HCCI engines operate with high levels of dilution using exahaust or extra air and produce lower peak burned gas temperatures, NOx emissions are dramatically reduced.
Tests were conducted in single cylinder engine Prodet without ignition plug and with increasing compression ratio to reach fuel self ignition temperature, the engine could not operate in this mode and the reason for these results were descussed in details.
