First Exhibition Design Day

On Monday morning 17, may, 2015. Preparation started on Kindi Hall at Electromechanical Engineering Department. Where University of Technology held under the care of its presidents Dr. Ameen Daway with cooperation of International Research & Exchanges Board (IERX) its First Exhibition Design Day. This event considered one of the greatest events in which work on raising the academic & scientific levels. Also, supply labor market with qualified researchers, engineers, and professors. Opening ceremony attended by president and his two assistants as well as the head of Mechanical Engineering Department Dr. Moyed Razooki. Moreover, many heads engineering Departments of the university and Engineers attended this event. Excellent students from the university participated in this event where they showed their designs. Also, representative of IREX Dr. Laurie Mason was there as well. The opening ceremony started with the speech of the president of the university where he announced that this day is the start of the continuous cooperation with global & scientific Institutions. He emphasized on developing education level after the massive gap before 2003 where the science was not in decent levels. He clarified that IREX has been great success with the University of Technology because of the university hard workers professors and students. The start of this kind of event was in 2007-2008 where five professors participated at that time whereas; now 65 professors in 2014-2015 participated in this event which is great evidence on the success of learning path at university of technology. Representative of IREX was pleased with the concentration on design course because it considered the language of the engineer, and to prepare students to be creative in design field for future. Also, she encouraged the cooperation among professors, students, and labor market to have a positive influence on the future. The exhibition started by browsing students design from all the departments and Mechanical Engineering departments. Also, students of forth stage for Mechanical Engineering departments participated as well where the designs were two types; first graduating projects where professors supervised the students while doing it. The other type was designs from student’s creation and their own ideas with minor supervision from design professors, which they were great help for the students. All the attendant people were pleased and the participated designs were evaluated by a committee from each department. The committee of mechanical engineering department consists of head of the department, General Supervisor for Educational Guidance, and professors of design course. The results of evaluation were the first place was taken by students of Mechanical Engineering and the second place was taken by students of building & construction Engineering and the third place was taken by students of chemical engineering.

Aircraft Engineering Branch trip to the Iraqi Airways

A number of students and faculty members of the mechanical engineering department- Aircraft Engineering Branch headed by Prof. Dr. Arkan Altaei visited the Iraqi Airways office in a unique scientific tour to learn the techniques being used in aircraft maintenance and enrich the students with the practical experience. The group was toured by Mr. Hussein Ali Faleh Al-Tememi, Manager of the Training Center in the Iraqi Airways who gave a lecture about the latest techniques in aircrafts besides the importance of the human safety. After that, Mr. Al-Tememi toured the group into the maintenance workshops where the students met several aircraft engineers and benefited from their practical experience. At the end of the tour the faculty and students of the aircraft branch thanked Mr. Al-Tememi and his staff for their help and support for serving our beloved country.

In response to the calling of the Supreme High Reference with proper guidance of the minister of higher education and scientific research, and under the care of the president of University of Technology. Head of Mechanical Engineer and number of faculty staff members participated in Training Course titled “We all crowed for Iraq” to respond to the call to defend our valuable country.

he faculty and students of Mechanical Engineering Department in University of Technology a supportive standup for the Iraqi army and the people crowd in front of the main building of the Mechanical Engineering Department, 10:00 AM Tuesday, 14 April 2015. The Iraqi flag was raised and some supportive posters for the Iraqi Army, while the professors and students signed a huge document to support who sacrificed themselves for Iraq. The document was sent to battle fields.

Automotive Branch held a student engineering seminar entitled

Under the Care of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Mechanical Engineering Department/ Automotive Branch held a Student Engineering Seminar entitled:

“Diagnosis of Gasoline Internal Combustion Engine Problems”

At Dr. Muneer Almothafar Hall at 9:00 PM Tuesday 7/4/2014. The seminar started with the Iraqi National Anthem and verses of the Holy Quran and Surat Alfatiha for Iraqi martyrs. After that the president of the university gave the opening speech followed by the speech of the head of the automotive branch Dr. Muhsen Noori Hamzah clarifying the goals of the seminar on emphasizing the latest technologies in diesel engines to identify the malfunctions of engines and finding the scientific and engineering solutions for it. After that engineer Abdullah Sameer Fadhil, Caterpillar company representative, gave a lecture entitled: “Diagnosis of Internal Combustion Engine Problems “. Then the students were allowed to discuss and ask questions about the lecture subject, followed by the seminar closure. Finally, the university sign plate was awarded to engineer Ahmed Hamad, manager of maintenance department for caterpillar and an acknowledgement letter for both engineer Abdullah Sameer the manager of the technical library in the company and engineer Mustafa Fadhil the sales manager of the company.

Mechanical Engineering Department / Aircraft Engineering branch held their engineering student seminar

Under the attention of the president of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Mechanical Engineering Department / Aircraft Engineering branch held their engineering student seminar entitled: (The New Trends in Aircraft Engineering) at the Dr. Muneer Hall, on Thursday 2/4/2015 at9:00AM . The seminar started with the national anthem and some verses of the Holy Quran and reciting of Surat Alfatiha for the martyrs or Iraq. After that, the president of the university gave a short speech followed by the speech of the head of Aircraft Engineering Branch Professor Dr. Arkan Khilkhal Al Taie, emphasizing on the latest technologies in aircraft systems and design. Later, Dr. Emad Natiq gave a speech about the new technologies in aircraft stability, followed by a lecture by student Khuther Abdul Ameer about design and dynamic analysis of a Quad Copter. Another lecture was then given by Eng. Saad Abbas Hussein about the dynamic simulation of aircraft guidance using Labview. Eng. Ahmed Tawfeeq gave a speech titled (opportunities in Aircraft field). The last lecturer was student Saif Saleh entitled: (The Simulation of an Aircraft Using SolidWorks and ANSYS). At the end of the seminar letters of appreciation were awarded.

Mechanical Engineering Department / Automotive branch held their engineering student seminar

Under the attention of the president of the university of technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Mechanical Engineering Department / Automotive branch held their engineering student seminar entitled: the new technologies in Diesel Engines at the Dr. Muneer Hall on Wednesday 1/4/2015 at 9:00AM. The seminar started with the national anthem and some verses of the holy Quran and reciting alfatiha for Iraqi martyrs. After that, the president of the university gave a short speech followed by the speech of the head of automotive Eng. branch Dr. Muhsen Noori, emphasizing on the latest technologies in diesel engines to improve its performance with respect to increasing the power and efficiency besides reducing the exhaust polutions. Later, engineer Ali Zaini Hussien, the representative of MAN , the German truck company gave a speech about the new technologies in diesel engines. Finally, Dr. Haider Abid Dhahad, manager of Training and workshop center, gave a speech about the variable combustion phases in diesel engines. The seminar was concluded by awarding letters of appreciation.

Participation of the mechanical engineering department in the scientific products fair on the university ground

The department of mechanical engineering participated in the scientific products fair that was helded at the fortieth year for university establishment. The fair was opened by the president of the university Prof Dr. Amin Daway Thamir at 9:30 AM Monday 13th of April. Also, Mr. Bahaa Alaraji, deputy of Prime Minister and Dr. Foad Qasim, deputy of the Ministry of higher dedication for scientific research and the department head, Dr. Moyed Razoki Hasan. The department participation in the fair by several patents for department faculty members and some graduation projects for undergraduate students.

Launching of a Quadcopter Prototype Made by Mechanical Engineering Department

The students of aircraft section / mechanical engineering department launched a quadcopter in the sky of the University of Technology. The quadcopter is one of many graduation projects completed by the aircraft students. The flight was a attended by Dr. Moyed Razooki, head of the department, Prof Dr. Arkan Altaie , head of aircraft engineering Dr. Falah Fakjir, deputy head of the department , Dr. Emad Natiq, lecturer Raad shihab, the supervisor s and many other members of staff and interested students.

Students Graduation Day of the Mechanical Engineering Department

The mechanical engineering department held a graduation party (Henna). The graduates insisted to show their support for the Iraqi army and the people crowd.

The students decided to create a huge surprise for everyone by making an Iraqi flag from colored balloons. The flag was made of 17000 balloon. This was an extraordinary event in the Iraqi universities.

The flag is one of the methods that mechanical engineering students use to show their support to the Iraqi army and the people crowd for defeating terrorism in our beloved country.

The students continued to prepare for the celebration after study hours. The decorations were finalized at Wednesday 10:00 PM. Moreover, a huge Iraqi tank was made of balloons, colored with the colors of the Iraqi flag, which represents victory on terrorism. The students also drew some 3D paintings on the ground.

At the celebration, the students wore colorful traditional Iraqi clothes which represents all Iraqi ethnic groups.

The Prime Minister Visit to the University of Technology

The prime minister of Iraq, Dr. Hayder Al Abadi, visited the University of Technology and gave a speech about the achievements accomplished by the Iraqi armed forces, people crowd and sons of tribes in defeating terrorism. The minister of higher education and scientific research was present, besides the university president, department heads and students to support our armed forces and people crowd. At the end of the ceremony, the university president thanked the prime minister for visiting and everyone who participated in making this celebration successful.
