MSC Study to Reinforce Reactive P owder Concrete Beams :
Reinforcing by polymer carbon fibers plays remarkable role in raising beams effiency to resist bending moments especially with using outer anchorage which has led to an increase in bending resistance of beams reaching sometimes 64,29 % compared to concrete beams not reinforced with polymer carbon fibers . In addition an increase in first cracking loads has noticed sometimes to 100 % . Further concrete beams reinforced with carbon fibers have less deflection , and the presence of the outer anchorage is very important action of connection between polymer carbon fibers and concrete section . The conclusion stated above have been reached by the researcher Falah Jaras Aaed through examining his thesis entitled " Practical study to Reinforce Flexure Reactive Powder Concrete Beams by using of outer polymer Carbon Fibers " On Wednesday , May 4 , 2015 . Examination committee involved Assist . Prof Dr. Amer Farog – Baghdad University ( Head ) , Assist.Prof Dr.Wamid Ghassan and Lec.Dr.Samir Fawsy – University of Technology ( members ) and Prof. Dr. Qais Fuad and Assist . Raed Khalil ( Supervisors and members ) . The examination has been conducted on Higher Studies Room ( Dr. Nima Amara ) in Building Construction Engineering Dept. GRANTING M.SC STUDENT (RANA TARIQ ABDUL-KAREEM) GRADE VERY GOOD HIGH IN BUILDING MATERIAL ENGINEERING | ||||||||||||||||||
The broad application of scc in construction field have given it great importance in recent years .however there are limited concepts about the common effect of hybrid fibers on scc on the one hand , and the multi-effects of hybrid fibers on scc via entering nano materials on the other hand due to the contrary effect of these factors on the fresh and hard properties of the resulting scc. Through the student's research entitled "tensile and compressive behavior of scc reinforced with fibers containing nano grains" the positive common effect of steel fibers, string fibers with or without nano silica on the mechanical properties of scc the field part Involves studying the common effect of nano-silica materials with or without hybrid fibers (steel fibers, string fibers )on the fresh and hard properties of scc. The experimental work involves two stages: First stage : this involves results of some trails ,then mixes that comply with standard specification of fresh tests are chosen to consider slump test ,arrival time 500 , Lbox , Jring ,segregation strength sieve . Second stage: this relates to hard properties tests (compressivestrength, modulus of elasticity, tensile and flexural strengths) in addition to density tests, water absorption, porosity, internal structure test for the selected mixes The examining committee involved: 1. Prof. Dr. Husham k. Ahmed / uot /chairman 2. Assisst Prof Dr. Basil S. Shathir /uot/ member 3. Assisst Prof. Dr. Ali T. Najim/kufa university /member 4. PhD. Student “Abdul-Khaliq Kamal Kamal “Obtains “High excellent” in Environmental engineering |

In a study (composite nano Membrane containing Nano Materials to purify Water) a new type of nano membrane has been developed and made containing multi-walls carbon nano pipes (MWCNTs) in the support layer and MCM-41 in the thin layer. At the beginning, the support layer was prepared by the wet phase reflection. Then a thin layer containing 0.5% of MCM-41) was spreaded on the support layer containing the following percentages: MWCNTs (0.0, 0.5, 0.4%) by interface polymerization using 2% MPD and 0.1% TMC. Finally the practical applications have shown that it is possible to produce pure drinking water from the salty water of the third river. As an actual result in site, the nano membranes containing 0.4 % of MWCTs in the support layer and 0.05 w % of MCM-41 in the thin layer were more stable and less losing in the jetting of the pure water than the normal composite membranes empty of nano materials (TFC). These characteristics can be explained in the possibility of anti-bacteria nano carbon pipes of its being of big pores in the support layer in addition to the porosity characteristics of nano material MCM-41. The examination has been conducted in B&CED, on high studies Hall (Dr. Nima Amora Hall) at 9;00 Am Thursday (June 4, 2015). The examination committee included: Prof. Dr. Abbas Hamid S. / Baghdad University /Head Prof. Dr. Adawiya J. Haider / UOT / Nanotechnology center / member Assist. Head of Building and Construction Dept. Meets Graduates for communication and Upgrading together |
Head of Building and Construction Dept. Prof. Dr. Riyad Hassan Al-Anbary met Graduates in the late Prof. Dr. Hussein Mohammad Hussein Hall in Feb. 23rd (ten o'clock in the morning) which will be celebrated annually as the “Graduates Day” In the beginning of the meeting the head of the department welcomed the graduates. Then, he presented the most important developments in the department on all scientific and practical levels, how the building of the department has been developed and the continuous seeking to improve services in it. He talked about acceptance in higher studies referring that the number of students now is 304 students. He called all to utilize this opportunity as well as higher diploma study which excludes conditions of average and age, and will involve six specialties next year instead of three this year (accommodating 41 students). The head of the department said that the purpose of this meeting is enhancing friendliness and cooperation between the department and graduates in order to obtain a good result and relationship in the work market at which the graduate works. He expressed his hope to involve the graduates in the curriculums modification committee because the studying system in the department has been changed from annual to course system and it becomes necessary to prepare the first year student in the general specialty to enter the suitable specialty (through adopting 50% of preparatory grade and 50% of first year grade) in the next stage. He referred to the scientific journal to publish researches paying the attention to the necessity of cooperation and spreading activities and asserting that the department is going forward to reach world quality and dependency. He said that the aim is realized via increasing the number of the students accepted in high studies to achieve the rule: “For each teaching member, the number of students should be not less than 10” He referred also to the creation of “Graduates’ Following-up Unit” under the responsibility of Dr. Basman Riyad Mohammed for communication with graduates through their own emails. He suggested conducting a program of weekly lectures with titles, for example “First Month to New Engineer” which is introductive for the graduates who start working newly to get benefit from the senior ones. Questionnaires prepared by the Quality Assurance Section in the department have been distributed (questionnaire of evaluating educational programs by graduates). The aim of this questionnaire is to get feedback from graduates about the quality of educational programs in the department in order to diagnose points of strength and weakness of these programs. At the end of the meeting, administrative Assistant Dr. Falah Hassan called graduates to take a photo with them to document the meeting (inside the department) and another on the runway of the university stadium
