Lecturer get bronze medal

Dr. Zainab Naser Jameel, Asst.Prof. at the communications department, has got the bronze medal and international participation certificate for her participation by sending a poster of an invention at the international exhibition of inventions (patents) for products marketing and new ideas IENA 2016 which was held in Nuremberg-German from Oct., 27-30, 2016 for her patent (Preparation of TiO2 Nanoparticles with Two Phases as Additive into Local Paint) . The participation was in cooperation with The International Federation Inventors associations IFIA.

Abstract:

The research includes work to improve and modify local paints Specification (Modern Paints) by adding nanomaterials to the  local paints. Titanium  dioxide (TiO2 ) nanomaterials are prepared which  has more than one phase. Two  phases Anatase and Rutile of TiO2 was prepared which are  used in industrial paint  applications. Composite  titanium dioxide    considered one of the most important raw material in the manufacture of dyes, especially the white ones because of the white color and brightness, which is owned in addition to the high refractive index and Photocatalyst Properties, especially UV irradiation  that associated with  surfaces that cleans itself by self  and that of the most important characteristics of being hydrophilic materials. The capability of a surface to clean itself is attractive in terms of cost, maintenance, and the environment; all three of which are inter-related. There is a cost related to cleaning solvents, and a time cost in scrubbing surfaces, besides a replacement cost from solvent use. Minimization of these costs not only benefits an individual, but also benefits society as a whole by eliminating solvent vapour into the environment, also eliminating the harmful effects of bacteria from the surfaces.
