Chemical Engineering department held seminar
Within the scientific and cultural activity of the second semester for the academic year 2017-2018, the Department of Chemical Engineering held a seminar in which the PHD student Huda Kazem presents a lecture entitled " CFD& Experimental Study the Effect of Nano Material on Drag Force of Iraqi Crude Oil Flow"
The seminar was held on Al-Khawarumi with the attendance of the head of the department Assc.Prof.Dr.Jamal Mana and bout scientific and administrative deputies Assc.Prof.Dr.Khalid Ajmi and Assc.Prof.Dr.Walla Abdul-Hadi and number of faculty.
In this study, the student studied the effect of the addition of nanoparticles to improve the behavior of Iraqi crude oil flow by reducing the relative pressure of the friction losses. Several variables were changed and their effect was calculated on pressure drop values and determines the best conditions to obtain the best results. The variables adopted the size of the tube and concentrations of nanoparticles and different types of nano and the rate of crude oil

50 trainees participate in teaching methods course
50 trainees representing the public and private universities and the Ministry of Education have participated in the teaching methods course which was held at the Center for Continuing Education / University of Technology from Apr.15-26/2018.
The course aims at training the teaching staff on modern education strategies and teaching methods that will raise the level of education in Iraqi universities and raise the standards and skills of teaching teachers.
Assc.Prof.Dr. Farhad Mohamed, The manager of the center, said that the course provides a range of effective test designs and educational activities that can be practiced in the educational situation as well as training the owners on presentation skills and presentation of the scientific material.
The course was presented by Dr.Sahira Abbas and number of experts in teaching methods.
Lecturers published joint research
Prof.Dr.Fadhil Ateya and Assc.Prof.Dr.Akram Raheem, both are lecturers at the material engineering department at the university of technology, have published a joint research titled " --------------" in Babil University's Magazine/ Engineering sciences in its second volume -2017.
The study investigated the preparation of powders of the lithium-barium phosphate using the self-combustion liquid gel technique and used XRD and VSM to verify the overlapping and magnetic properties of the overlapping components.
Materials Engineering Department holds seventh cultural season
Materials Engineering Department at the University of Technology started the activities of the seventh cultural season under the slogan "to activate the spirit of creativity for all faculty and staff of the department" in the hall of the late Prof.DR. Fadhel Ateya and continued for five days included the first day to hold a seminar PHD students in the research course to see the latest developments of their researches and what the obstacles facing them and creating the necessary conditions to complete the research requirements. The activities of the second day were a joint cooperation between the department and the office of EGMA by holding an exhibition of engineering materials of German origin, which are used in various fields. By the end of the festival, the head of the department gave certificates of appreciation to the participants.
In the third day, there was an awareness lecture on "personal styles and methods of dealing with each style", presented by international coach Thamer Hasani Al-Sharqi and he gave a detailed explanation of personality patterns and how to analyze each character and methods of dealing with them followed by a test analysis on a number of attendees, and the fourth day included events For students, teachers and employees. It is a variety of sports and intellectual competitions enjoyed by participants and attendees. It was attended by many teachers, employees and students. The prizes were distributed to the winners by a president. The President of the University also distributed prizes for the best in the championship, the top scorer Issa Nasser of Section No. 3 and the best goalkeeper Mohammed Jassem of Section 5, and the best player Halo Ghazi of Section 3.
Continuing Education Center organizes heat exchangers course
Continuing Education Center at the University of Technology organized a course on heat exchangers and their industrial importance with the participation of trainees from the Petroleum Training Institute in Basra from 25-29/ 3/2018.The course aimed at introducing the concept of heat exchangers, types and industrial uses in practical life.the course was presented by Assc. Prof. Muqaddam Tariq.
The course included: introduction to heat transfer and heat exchanger, types of heat exchangers and their importance, heat exchanger and tube, industrial and engineering uses of heat exchangers.
Continuing Education Center organizes course
Continuing Education Center at the University of Technology organized a course from 18 till 22 Mars 2018 on the examination of modern cars using computers with the participation of trainees representing the General Company for food trade. The course aimed at introducing the types of sensors and methods of testing and diagnosing car breakdowns. The course also included a general introduction on sensor types, engine types, fault diagnosis and diagnosis, electronic control unit.
The course was presented by Assc.Prof.Dr.Adil Mahmood from the mechanical engineering department

Materials Engineering Department at the University of Technology held a seminar entitled Methods of obtaining licenses or borrowings from scientific sources in which the lecture was given in the Department. Saad Badri Hassoun.
And included a detailed explanation on the methods of obtaining licenses or loan authorizations from scientific sources in addition to the definition of the institution (STM publers) on this subject and was answered all the inquiries by the attendees.

The student In this study showed that the membrane distillation is a thermal separation involving the transfer of vapor molecules through water-resistant porous membranes. In this work, polymers made from mixing polymer, polyvinyl chloride and polyethyl acrylate. This mixture was prepared by using free thrombolysis of ethyl acrylate in the presence of polyvinyl chloride and the spine was vaccinated for polyvinyl chloride with ethyl acrylate. The effect of the reaction time was studied at the following time (6, 4, 3, 2, and 1) hours. The success of the vaccination reaction and the reduction of the chlorine percentage of polyvinyl chloride were confirmed by using the infrared spectrum as well as the diffused x-ray of energy. The contact angle was adopted as a criterion for selecting the resulting mix at each reaction time. After selecting the best time of one hour, three samples of the membranes were prepared (12%, 14%, 16%) of the polymerized polyolefin In addition, three samples were produced with the same proportions of polymerized polymerized polymerized polymerized polymerization.
