Production and Metals Engineering Department grants PHD to the student Kareem Mohsen for his dissertation "Characteristics of Friction Welding of Dissimilar Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals".

The researcher weld the friction mixing of the alloy joints of the AA1100 and AA6061 aluminum alloy plates of similar and different thickness and thickness of 3 mm, where these alloys have low to medium resistance and vary in the degree of melting and the rest of the physical properties.

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof.Dr.Abdul-Wahid Kadhim from University of Babil and Prof.Dr.Hani Azeez from Middle Technical University and Asst.Prof.Dr.Ayad Morad from Al-Nahreen University, Asst.Prof.Dr.Israa Abdul-Qader from University of Technology, Asst.Prof.Dr.Abbas Sheaa from University of Baghdad as members. Prof.Dr.Muna Khudair from University of Technology as a supervisor.

Asst.Prof.Dr.Jassim Mohammed from University of Babil as a sceintific reviewer and Prof.Dr.Arkan Khikhal from University of Technology as a linguistic reviewer.

Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology organized a scientific visit for the third stage students to the Central Refineries Company (Doura Refinery) and the General Company for Heavy Engineering Equipment under the supervision of a faculty member in the department Assc.Prof.Dr.Khaled Hamed and Assc.Chemical Senior Wasan Sami.The visit aimed at linking theoretical study with practical application and clarifying some practical applications of chemical engineering in the field of petroleum industries.

On the sidelines of the visit, they went on a survey to the manufacture of heat exchangers and types of heat exchangers workshop such as double pipe, shell and tube with fixed and mobile pipe, as well as an explanation of the work of engineering design department. The scientific visit achieved great practical benefits for the students because the liquidator includes modern measurement and control devices using PLC, SCADA system, advanced surveillance cameras, monitoring of remote production processes by monitoring screens.

the president of University of Technology Prof.Dr.Ameed Daowi chaired the session of Secretary of the Department of Computer Science on Thursday, 16-5-2018.The university president reviewed the achievements of the university during the past five years, as well as he emphasis on encouraging the establishment of scientific symposia because of their great role in evaluating the department, and thus in the interest of the university and its reputation. Also he discussed the publication of research in international journals and their positive impact on the improvement of the university's classification at various levels.

The university president emphasized the next acceptance plan for direct applications and the role of the media to attract and encourage students in the process of applying to the scientific and engineering departments in this process, as well as spreading and maintaining the reputation of departments in all aspects. The head of Computer Science Department Assc.Prof.Dr.Hala Bahjat reviewed plans for the department during the next academic year, and the agreement to establish an international conference of the department. She gave a presentation on the achievements made by the department from the introduction of the extension program in the management system and the development of the computer lab.
