The Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, which is within the Thomson Reuters classification and has the impact factor of 0.732 published a scientific research for Lect.Dr. Mohamed Jawad Mohammed from Electromechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology entitled:Open Loop Active Control Technique on Segmented Marine Riser Vibration Using Electromechanical ActuatorThe research included a practical study of the method of control with an open loop for oil extraction pipe in marine installations where an electromechanical motor consisting of a DC motor was designed to rotate rods in two locations, one beside the oil pipe and the other in front and back. The results indicated that the vibration in the oil pipe was reduced to 69% if the engine was placed next to the pipe and 65% if the engine was placed in front of and behind the pipe.

The General Secretary of the Central Library at the University of Technology participated in the workshop (National Vision for the future of Iraqi institutions, libraries and information centers) which was organized by the Association of Information Specialist, Libraries and Documentation at the Central Library of Mustansiriya University at the request of The INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR LIBRIES AND ISTITUTIONS / IFLA
The workshop was an extension of the workshop which was held in Tunisia and was attended by the Association as a member of the Union. The participants presented the challenges facing the libraries and information centers and discussed the opportunities available to solve them. A report on the outcome of the workshop will be presented to the Union along with other national reports, Union) will submit a consolidated global report to be published at the end of the year on its website AFLA.

Civil Engineering Department in cooperation with the Center for Environmental Research at the University of Technology held a specialized technical meeting to discuss the importance and measurement of the response and the benefit of the implementation of the research project (The environmental impacts of the phenomenon of desertification and drought, natural disasters and wars and their impact on the environmental and social reality and different sectors of work in Iraq). The meeting started with a speech by Prof.Dr.Amin Dawei Thamer, President of the University of Technology welcomed the attendees and urged them to communicate well and continuously with the University to reach the most appropriate and best conclusions and through openness and cooperation with the University of Sussex.Followed by the word of Asst.Prof.Dr.Hassan Hamoudi, in which he stressed the capabilities of the department and its engineering staff in achieving the project on a global level through cooperation with the British University.33 experts and specialists from various attended the meeting and representatives of the University of Sussex Dr. Jath Wand and Dr. Hussein Al-Tamimi, who participated via satellite from the British University. The participants discussed scientific cooperation between our University and the University of Sussex through the adoption of a project(Environmental impacts of desertification, drought, disasters and wars and their impacts using geomatics).A full review of the project submitted by the University of Technology and a statement of importance of scientific and applied in Iraq.After that, the participants started a scientific discussion and the representative of the University of Sussex, achieving positive results by providing scientific assistance by the executive ministries of this project and employing postgraduate students to complete their research within the directives of this project.
