Laser Engineering Dept. Grants a Master Degree for M.Sc. Student
Laser and Optical Electronics Engineering Dept. at U.O.T granted a master degree to Josephine Khalid Badr for her thesis entitled:-
" Study of Thermal Effect In High Power Thin Disk Laser" .
The researcher concluded that the thin-film, solid-state pumped laser diode has received a lot of attention due to its high efficiency and capacity, the quality of its laser beam, in addition to the simplicity of the cooling system that it needs.
The need for high laser power requires a highly efficient cooling system to dissipate the heat generated by the radiation and to avoid the effects of such high power, which are laser disc fracture and laser beam distortions. Therefore, studying the temperature distribution, stress and strain caused by heat generation inside the thin disk is the main factor in studying its effect on the laser medium that contains the generated heat. In this study, we rely on the integration method to derive the analytical solution and thermal effects in the thin laser disk. Comparing similar works, results appeared similar to other solutions for the same topic
