Civil engineering department grant MSC

Civil Engineering Department at University of Technology grants MSC to the student Mustafa Hashim for his thesis “STUDYING AND ANALYSIS OF CRASH SEVERITY FOR DIFFERENT LOCAL EXPRESSWAY USING LOGISTIC"

The thesis includes studying the four important highways used by drivers in Karkh and Risafa in Baghdad, 349 samples of traffic accidents were collected from 2006 till 2019 after taking the necessary information as (type of accident, factors, the weather, the roads, days of the week, accident causes, seat belt, rated speed during the accident and type of the vehicle) and then analyzing and modeling them by using a statistical model (binary logistic regression model) for each road on both sides of Karkh and Risafa. The researcher concluded that there are three variables closely related to the accidents on Salah Al-Deen highway which causes accidents as (loss of control, alcohol, closure, safety distance, change the lane, day and speed) and four variables on Baghdad International Airport Highway and they are (tire condition and explosion, loss control, day, type of the vehicle, speed), three variables on Mohammed Al-Kassim Highway which causes accidents as (wrong turn, loss of control, locking safety distance, type of the vehicle and speed) and four variables on Al-Gaesh Canal Highway (road condition, day, vehicle type and speed).

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof.Dr.Hammid Athab and the membership of Asst.Prof.Dr.Zainab Ibrahim, Lect.Dr.Ahmed Subhi and Prof.Dr.Hassan Hamodi as a supervisor.
