A Master Thesis In Civil Engineering Dept. / University of Technology Has Been Discussed
The thesis entitled:
" Building and Testing Low Cost Driving Simulator. "
Student's thesis Hussein Saddoun Matar included that use of mobile phones increases the mental workload of drivers, especially when they send text messages. The study also found that the use of mobile phones increases the chances of committing traffic jams, especially for elderly drivers. A positive relationship between the age of the driver and the reaction time, as older drivers need a longer time to respond to braking.
The additional mental effort that drivers are exposed to and using mobile phones causes drivers to reduce their speed and increase the distance between them and the vehicles in front of them because they are so busy with their mobile phone.
