A Master Thesis in Computer Science Dept. Has Been Discussed

A master thesis in Computer Science Dept. at U.O.T. discussed hiding an encrypted message in video frames based on pixel value difference (PVD) and the MapReduce method.

The research  presented by the student Huda Ghazi Abdul Sahib aimed to create a system that would allow two parties to send and receive the video. This video contains sensitive documents, and the presence of data in the video should not be suspected by unauthorized individuals, that is, high security must be achieved in the transmission process, in addition to achieving a high percentage in the embedding process.

This is achieved by using steganography techniques to enter the secret message and distribute it between video frames in a certain way. In addition to providing additional protection for the secret message by encrypting it in the event that there is a possibility, even a small one, that confidential information in the video will be detected.

This thesis also aims to apply a specific strategy and model for segmentation, processing and analysis of this video.

In this message, powerful techniques were used for the purpose of hiding important data inside a video without affecting the quality and clarity of the video so as not to be suspected of hidden data in it, in addition to using the MAP model that helps to deal with the video and its frames in terms of its division and analysis.

The researcher reached good results by using quality measures (PSNR, MSE, Entropy and Correlation coefficient), where the values of (PSNR) ranged from (64.91196 dB) to (65,58073 dB) for the method.

The 1st  method, and from (79.24330 dB) to (79.38354 dB) for 2nd  method, and from (60.02697 dB) to (60.23386 dB) for 3rd  method. Also, the histogram tests were very similar before and after the secret message embedding process. Also, a high capacity was achieved in the embedding process. Finally, the secret message can reach the other side safely and without distortion, preventing unauthorized individuals from discovering it.

The discussion committee consisted of :-

1-  Prof. Dr. Abdul Muneim Saleh from Imam Al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him) / Chairman.

2- Asst. Prof. Dr.  Methaq Talib  from Al-Mustansiriyah University/ Member.

3- Asst. Prof. Dr. Rahim Abdul-Saheb/ Member.

4- Prof. Dr.  Maysaa Abed Ali/ Supervisor.
