Dept. of Petroleum Technology Holds the 2nd International Conference on Petroleum and Petrochemical Technology

Under the patronage of His Excellency/ Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kadhum Abdel-Saheb, and under the supervision of the President of the U.O.T. , Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghabban in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Petroleum Technology Dept .held the 2^nd  International Conference on Oil and Petrochemical Technology on Sunday 23/5/2021 at the University Theater Hall.

The conference aimed to enhance the role of the scientific researcher in the development of the oil industry by gathering researchers, academics and specialists on a multidisciplinary platform to present and discuss the results of research and innovations and to exchange experiences in the field of oil and petrochemical technology in a conference covering many scientific and applied pivots in the field of oil and petrochemical industries that represent the source of the Iraqi economy.

The conference inaugurated with a speech of the President of the U.O.T./ Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghabban  , saying: The oil sector is of great importance at the level of the country The country is the vital source of economy, pointing out that this conference came to complete the special scientific procession in this field that was adopted by the Dept. of Petroleum Technology despite COVID19 conditions, this is a great scientific effort for them taking into consideration all safety and health protection measures.

Al-Ghabban is keen to proceed this this conference by reserachers  and publish their researches internationayl, and we hope that they will hold the 3^rd  session of this conference next year for the benefit of the country.

 Asst. Prof. Dr. Fadhil Sarhan Kadhum/Head of Petroleum Technology Department, confirmed in a speech: The number of research papers delivered to this conference were (118) scientific papers where (80) papers were accepted, including participants from other countries ; Turkey, Oman, Malaysia, Australia and Venezuela, Yemen and Thailand, expressing his thanks to all the donors and supporters for the establishment of this conference.

The scientific sessions were opened for the 1^st  day under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Heider Abed-Dhahad and Asst. Prof. Dr. Najem Abed-Kadhum Al-Rubaie as scheduled, as the session included several lectures:

The 1^st  lecture by Prof. Dr. Ali Mohsen Al-Mashat is entitled (Integrated Energy in Iraq) The 2^nd  lecture by Senior Engineers/ Muhammad N. Aboud is entitled (Oil Contracts and Licenses) and the 3^rd  lecture was given by Asst. Prof. Dr. Salam J. Hussein entitled (Modern approaches to digitization in oil and gas), then followed by Electronic lectures for researchers on google meet.

The conference was concluded with the distribution of the university’s shield to the participating researchers by the President of U.O.T. , Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghabban.
