Materials Engineering Dept. Holds a Scientific Symposium

 Under the patronage of the President of U.O.T. ,  Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghaban, the Materials Engineering Dept. at the university, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defense, held a scientific symposium entitled

"Fire Performance and Sustainability of Sandwich Panel in Iraq"

 In the presence of Head of Materials Engineering Dept. , Asst. Prof.  Dr. Hussein A. Jaber and the Governor of Baghdad, Eng. Muhammad J.  Al-Atta, and the Vice-  President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim and General Brigadier Jawdat Abdul Rahman from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Director of Relations and Information, and a number of officers from various departments of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, heads of departments, lecturers and university employees on the discussion hall in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering.

The symposium aimed at diagnosing the problem of using sandwich panels in construction, and searching for immediate and future solutions to manage fire risks when using such materials while addressing the incorrect uses of them and the resulting damage to come up with recommendations and appropriate implementation solutions with the necessity of activating them when using Sandwich panels in various construction operations.

The symposium included a many lectures :-

The 1ST t lecture was given by Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad R. Gharkan and Eng. Hashem Sh. Al-Jazaery from U.O.T. / Materials Eng. Dept. entitled “Technical Guidelines for Fire Hazards for Overlapping Panels”

 The 2ND  lecture was given by  lieutenant  Raed Hawkan from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, entitled "The Dangers of Using Insulating Panels".

And the 3rd  lecture was given by Asst. Prof.  Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Hussein Al-Zuhairi from U.O.T. / Materials Eng. Dept.  , entitled "Sustainability of sandwich panels in Iraq between reality and the future"

The seminar concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the guests and lecturers.
