The Educational Guidance Committee in Mechanical Eng. Dept. at U.O.T., in coordination with the Educational Guidance Committee in Air Conditioning and Freezing Branch, organized an awareness lecture at Dr. Munir Al-Mudhaffar’s Hall on “Negative Aspects in the University Environment” , attended by Lieutenant-Colonel Aziz Nasser from Baghdad Governorate Police Command, where he addressed several topics, the most important of which are: bullying And its negative effects on society in general and the university community in particular, and how to address this case and prevent its aggravation among students. As well as the case of drugs and their impact on young people and society, acquainting students with its dangers, causes of its spread, methods of use, and its health, physical and social harms, and clarification of its types and forms, and ways to prevent it.
Besides, cases of electronic blackmail, bad use of social media, the process of threatening and intimidating victims in exchange for payment of sums of money, or exploiting it by publishing photos or video materials, or leaking confidential information related to it to carry out illegal acts for the benefit of blackmailers.
The lieutenant colonel referred to this crime, which is a transnational crime and does not recognize borders, as the work of its security services depends on the cooperation of the citizen with the police and security, confronting crime and not being afraid of it and reporting it, explaining how to confront this blackmailing by spreading legal culture among young people and increasing their awareness Public opinion about the dangers of this type of crime, raising awareness of the family and contributing to launching awareness campaigns and guidelines from time to time, and cooperating with the relevant security agencies
