Petroleum Technology Dep. hold a symposium

During the Annual Cultural Season, Petroleum Technology Dep. held a Scientific & Cultural Symposium about (Natural Radioactive Materials in Iraqi Oil Industry), in Al-Thaqia hall.

In the presence of Vice President of Administrative Affairs/ Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim, the Department Head, Prof. Dr. Fahdel Sarhan Kahdim, the Scientific Deputy Assist. Prof. Dr. Najem A. Al-Rbaie, the Administrative Deputy Assist. Prof. Dr. Ramzi Seihoud, the Head of the Branch Dr. Emad A. Fahker, the Director of Media and Public Relations Department Lec. Dr. Sari T. Reshan, & Number of faculty staff, lecturers & students’.

The head of the Department welcomed the attendance and illustrated the symposium's significance & the Radioactive Materials impact have in fields & Oil Industries on the environment & Humans.

The lectures delivered by:-

-           Prof. Dr. Kamal Karim Ali / Earth Science Department / the University of Baghdad.

-           Assist. Prof. Dr. Kahlid Ajmi Sukar / Chemical Eng. Dep. / the University of Technology.

The symposium included:-

-           Definition of the Natural Radiation Phenomenon in the Oil Industry.

-           Valid Scientific Methods in dealing with Natural Radioactive Materials.

-           The global limits of radiation exposure levels & health damage to workers, people & the environment in the absence of appropriate preventive measures.

In conclusion, the Vice President of Administrative Affairs/ Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim distributed shields & certifications of appreciation to the lecturers in value their efforts in the success of this symposium. As well as the Head of the Department Prof. Dr. Fahdel Sarhan Kahdim presented certifications of appreciation to the members of the Preparing Committee.
