The Environmental Research Center Organizes a lecture on the Importance of Obtaining a Patent

 

The Environmental Research Center at the U.O.T., within its cultural season, organized an online lecture on Zoom, entitled : The Importance of Obtaining a Patent, in the presence of the Center Director, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hamid M. Jawad Al-Oeidi and a number of university professors and employees.

The lecturer at E. R. C. was given by Dr. Thaer M. Al-Jadder/Editor, and a representative of Ohio and Oakland Publishing House.

The lecture included an explanation of the meaning of the patent, which is the intellectual and creative property rights that are granted by governments according to Paris Agreement, which provides protection for the invention and allows the owner of the invention (the inventor) to prevent others from using the invention.

There are two main types of patents:-

Non-Provisional Patent and  Provisional Patent

He explained that obtaining the patent helps raise the rank of universities globally, and the inventor can license the American patent for others to use or sell, as well as greatly assisting in obtaining acceptance in international universities to complete the study or obtain financial funding.

The lecturer added when the inventor should think about registering a patent, "as there are common and misconceptions about this matter, which is that the invention is complete and has been applied and this is not true.

At the end of the lecture, the discussion was opened between the lecturer and the attending professors
