Cooperation quest between Al-Sharjah University of and the University of Technology in Emirates

 

Preparatory meeting for joint scientific conference in engineering disciplines

Excellency Prof. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, the President of Al-Sharjah University, received a delegation from the University of Technology in Baghdad, headed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, President of the University. During the meeting, a number of joint cooperation areas between the two universities were discussed, in particular cooperation in organizing the Fifth International Scientific Conference for Construction and Environmental Engineering, and the Second International Conference on Sustainability in Building Materials and Civil Engineering Systems.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Muammar Beltayeb from Al-Sharjah University, the Vice President of the University Director for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Qutaiba Hamid, Vice President for Medical Colleges Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Shammaa, Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Radi Al Zubaidi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, and Ms. Fatima Sajwani, director of the conferences office at the university, and a number of faculty members at the College of Engineering. The visiting delegation from the University of Technology included Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Joni, Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Shaker Ahmed Saleh, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Majid Al-Mukhtar, and Dr. Wael Shawky, members of the scientific and organizing committees of the conference.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi welcomed the visiting delegation, providing an introduction to the University of Sharjah, which indicated that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University (may God Almighty protect him) established it as a national development project aimed at serving the community and the rehabilitation of its students and graduates equipped with the scientific and cognitive skills that qualify them to join the labor market, and the University of Sharjah now enjoys a distinguished position among local, regional and international universities, stressing that it is now one of the largest universities in the country, in terms of the number of its colleges, academic programs, and centers And its scientific institutes, and its branches that cover all the cities of the emirate. And that the number of its students registered during this year amounted to approximately 16,500 male and female students from different countries of the world, of whom 2,600 are students and researchers in postgraduate programs. The Rector of the University concluded by praising this cooperation in the field of organizing scientific conferences, pointing out that there are many other areas in which cooperation can take place in the future.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, President of the University of Technology, thanked the university administration for the warm reception, and welcomed this cooperation, which he said will have the greatest impact and benefit on the two universities, providing an introduction to the University of Technology in Baghdad, which he said is one of the oldest Iraqi specialized universities in engineering and sciences and includes 16 colleges covering all engineering and scientific fields, and that the University of Technology also seeks to establish partnerships and scientific cooperation between various universities and academic institutions. Then the meeting discussed a number of axes related to the scientific and organizational issues of the joint conference, the timetable and the proposed work plan.
