The President of the University of Technology grants a thanks letter to two lecturers from the Department of Materials Engineering for publishing a patent
The President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, granted a letter of thanks and appreciation to two lecturers in the Department of Materials Engineering, Prof. Aseel Bassem Abdel Hussein and Prof. Dr. Hana Arier Smeij for their outstanding efforts in completing the patent entitled:
"Cementation of Oil Well from Eco- Friendly Waste Natural Materials"

The patent addressed the most important problems of environmental pollution by preparing an environmentally friendly green cement consisting of natural waste and ash of rice husks in different additives. The natural agricultural waste was the addition to the cement mixture. The mechanical properties of the samples were measured. It leads to an increase in the compressive strength and hardness of the cement mortar and a decrease in its absorption of crude oil for a period of 7 and 28 days after coating it with a mixture consisting of sodium silicate added to it 5% of the silicate produced from the ash of rice husks. Industrially for the purposes of fattening oil wells in order to obtain a clean and green environment without pollution and reduce CO2 emission to the atmosphere when mixing cement with water.
