The Department of Mechanical Engineering holds a student festival for the power plant engineering branch in cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity for the academic year 2021-2022
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr. Muayyad Razuki Hassan, a student festival for power plant engineering was held on Thursday 19/5/2022, and in the hall of Dr. Jawamir, in cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity - Department of Training and Energy Research, under the slogan ( Plant engineer and work challenges).
The festival opened with the national anthem, then verses from the Holy Quran and Surat Al-Fatihah were recited for the souls of our righteous martyrs. Then Dr. Wafaa Abd Saud, Head of the Power Plants Engineering Branch, gave a speech that included the importance and role of the Power Plants Engineer in contributing to meeting the increasing demand for electric power and the operation and maintenance of plants' Various types of thermal, gas, water and diesel stations.
The festival included two lectures, the first entitled (Control of Combustion Generated Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Emissions in Gas Turbine) delivered by Dr. Raed Abdel Alwan, and the second lecture entitled (The Use of Solar Thermal Concentrators to Operate Steam Power Plants) delivered by Dr. Muwaffaq Qassem Shaye. The audience interacted with the two lectures through valuable scientific discussions. At the end of the festival, the scientific outputs of the graduation projects of the branch's senior students were presented.
The president of the university, the head of the department, and the two teachers briefed the audience on these projects and wished our students success in their scientific careers.
