Computer Engineering Department hold an awareness symposium

 Computer Eng. Dep. at UOT held an awareness symposium about drugs and addiction hazard, in the presence of Administrative Deputy, Lec. Dr. Ahmed Musa Dinar, and the employees and students of the department at the conference hall in the department.

The symposium included two pivots, which were presented by the Director of Registration, Assist. Lec. Safa'a Kamel Hanan, and the Chief Legal Unit, Assist. Lec. Beda Abdul-Jabbar.

Assist. Lec. Safaa Kamel gave a lecture in which he touched on this sensitive topic and the spread of drugs among young people recently, introducing drugs and addiction, the harms and causes of drug abuse, how to know drug users, the role of the family in drug prevention, methods of drug prevention and awareness of its dangers.

Assist. Lec. Baida Abdul-Jabbar explained the Narcotics Law No. 50 of 2017 to the students and introduced them to the provisions that stipulate that drugs containing narcotic substances should not be dispensed except with a medical prescription, and indicated the penalty stipulated by the law for those who export or import drugs and those who trade in buying and selling drugs or seducing or encouraging them, where the penalty is between exclusion and temporary or life imprisonment in addition to a fine.

The symposium recommended to the students at the university to choose friends accurately, not to be drawn into bad company, to have awareness, and to invest time and energy.

Useful activities, exercise, and an emphasis on the role of the family because it plays an important role in educating children, avoiding violence and cruelty, providing a calm family atmosphere, conscious financial spending, and emphasizing the important role of society in launching awareness campaigns through all media, giving this issue the utmost importance for its societal damage, and preventing propaganda means that encourage on the implicit promotion of these substances and finally the enactment of deterrent laws and legislation to prevent the circulation of narcotic substances.
