Technology Evaluation Workshop on Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Cooperation with Baghdad Health Department - Rusafa
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, and on the occasion of October Breast Cancer Screening Month, the Office of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs - Chemical, Biological and Radiological Safety and Security Division CBRN in cooperation with the Environmental Research Center, the Women's Affairs Unit and the Baghdad Health Department - Rusafa, held a workshop entitled Early Detection of Breast Cancer in the presence of the Head of the Chemical Safety and Security Division, Assistant Professor Dr. Wafaa Abdul-Kazem and Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Riyadh Khalil from the Scientific Affairs Department - Office of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Assistant Professor Dr. Azhar Mahmoud Halim and Dr. Rasha Obaid Abdullah from the Ministry of Health, Family Medicine Specialist in the New Baghdad Sector - Rusafa and a number of female lecturers and university employees in Dr. Jawamir Hall in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The lecture given by Dr. Rasha Obaid Abdullah included the definition of cancer, which is abnormal cells that grow rapidly and spread very quickly. Its signs include a lump that may be cancerous or non-cancerous, as well as a change in the size of the breast with or without pain. Then she addressed some questions about why breast cancer in particular, what are the methods of early detection, when did it start, what are the factors that make a woman more susceptible than others, and if she is 40 years old or older and visited a doctor for a problem in the breast, what is the next step? Is the examination mammogram or ultrasound? Is everyone who breastfeeds protected from breast cancer? To what extent is a woman with a family history of breast cancer more susceptible than her peers who do not have such a history? The absence of a family history guarantees protection. True or false? She explained the methods of detecting it through self-examination first, then the method of treating it. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the lecturer and her supporting committee in appreciation and recognition of their efforts in holding this workshop.
