Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department Holds an Awareness Symposium

The Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering - the Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division and the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit held an awareness symposium entitled (The Dangers of Drugs ... Awareness and Prevention), delivered by Asst.Lect. Zainab Abdul Sattar and Asst.Lect. Ali Sajet in the presence of the dean of the department, Prof. Dr. Fadel Sarhan Kazem, and a number of faculty and students in the branch building.

The symposium aimed to educate society about the dangers of drugs and their negative impact on individuals, families and society in general.

The symposium included several axes, the most important of which are: types of drugs, causes of addiction spread, its negative health, psychological and social effects, as well as methods of prevention and treatment.

The symposium came out with recommendations, including: activating strict laws to combat drug trafficking and abuse, supporting rehabilitation centers, increasing awareness campaigns, strengthening the role of the family in monitoring children and protecting them from addiction by calling for community solidarity to combat this dangerous phenomenon and activating the role of awareness and family control in addition to providing effective treatment programs that help addicts recover and reintegrate into society again.
