Computer Science Department Organizes Workshop on the Scourge of Drugs, the Phenomenon of Addiction, and its Impact on Youth
Under the supervision of the dean of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and as part of the activities of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, the Guidance Committee in the Artificial Intelligence Branch organized a workshop on the scourge of drugs, the phenomenon of addiction, and its impact on youth on Monday, February 17, 2025, in the hall of the late Dr. Emad Kazem.
The lecture was given by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suhad Mal Allah Kazem, in the presence of the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Branch, Dr. Dina Kazem, the Director of Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations in the Department, Dr. Anmar Ali, and members of the Educational Guidance Committees.
The workshop aimed to introduce drugs as harmful substances that affect the human body and its psychological health, causing hallucinations and increasing the risk of suicide. It also explained the reasons for drug use, such as escaping from reality, psychological pressures, and bad companions, as well as methods of preventing the scourge of drugs and how to diagnose an addict.
The lecturer called on young people to be careful and not to take medications randomly, encouraging them to engage in sports activities and stressing the need for parents to monitor their children.
At the end, the lecturer was presented with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her efforts in delivering the lecture.
