A Ph.D. dissertation has been discussed in Dept. of Electrical Eng.  At UOT entitled

"(Meta- Heuristic Swarm Optimization for Robotic Vision Based on Bio- Intelligent)

The work submitted by Ph. D. Postgraduate student/ Samem Abbas Salman proposed a new heuristic meta-heuristic algorithm based on neighborhoods, inspired by simulating swarm improvement. This is called the Cicada Swarm Improvement Algorithm (CISO).

Several meta-optimization algorithms were introduced and developed in the last few decades. Therefore it was necessary to compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with other known meta-algorithms such as; Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Artificial Bee Colony Improvement (ABC), Cockroach Swarm Improvement (CSO) The suggested comparison was ineffective if it were based on only conventional, familiar algorithms. Therefore, several recently proposed meta-optimization algorithms have been added to this comparison such as; Moth flame enhancement algorithm (MFO), grasshopper enhancement algorithm (GOA), and whale enhancement algorithm (WOA).

The proposed Cicada swarm algorithm has been tested using a variety of known standard test functions that have various characteristics, multiple dimensions, and multimedia solutions. The CISO method was applied to solve two common problems in constrained engineering design, including Himmelblau and pressure vessel design. The results of the proposed method are compared with the results of the other algorithm.
