In order to train students on the study of the earth structures and conducting laboratory tests to determine the types of rocks and minerals by detecting chemical and optical properties that distinguish them by studying the manual sampling with the naked eye, resulted in the first stage students in petroleum technology department taking the Petroleum Geology Laboratory exam on 10/3/2016 within the department.

The official of the lab, Mrs. Hiba Tarik said that the laboratory activities involves giving practical experiences for students and giving a hand models of crystals, minerals, rocks and put questions to answer and trained to read the geological maps and topographic contour for the purpose of knowledge of surface and underground and study oil reservoirs containing gatherings hydrocarbon and drawing different floor sectors and account productivity quantity of these reservoirs as well training students to write reports for geological samples examined in order to determine the name and type of each laboratory model.

It is worth noting that the Petroleum Geology lab was established in 2010 where it was outfitted with the latest and finest laboratory furniture according to the required specifications also contains models and different types of minerals, igneous and sedimentary and metamorphic as well as polarized electron microscope to examine minerals and rocks.
