Within series of the university's Day events and under the support of the university president Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer, the university has honored constellation of faculty and associates in the University Theater on Thursday, 16/04/2015. The ceremony was attended by Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Wisam Hamdan Kadhim and Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs Dr. Sami Abu Noon and a number of heads of the scientific departments and centers and a number of employees and students of the university.

The celebration began with the national anthem and a reading from the Holy Quran and then the president of the university Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer honored the first professors on the scientific and engineering departments with the university shields.  The honoring included also a large number of associate retirees for their efforts during their working years at the university and the most outstanding among their peers graduate students in addition to a group of students of the martyrs and the wounded who have been honored by Assistant President of the University for Scientific and Administrative Affairs and heads of departments at the university.

Dr. Ramsey Sehud Hamid has been honored as the first professor in the petroleum technology department.
