A PTD faculty members participated in a discussion panel:

A number of faculty members of the Petroleum Technology Department have participated in a discussion panel entitled (learning by solving the problem), which was held at the conference hall in the Department of Control & Systems Engineering on Tuesday, 05.26.2014 and in the presence of the Chairman of the Supervisory and Scientific Evaluation System in the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr.  Nabil Al-Araji, and the president of the University professor Dr. Amin Douai Thamer, the university president assistants for scientific and Administrative Affairs, a number of heads of departments and a number of  university faculty members.

The seminar included a review of the concept of learning by solving the problem where Dr. Jalal Mohammed Jalil, the  team leader, presented the university's participation in the programs designed for this purpose and most recent post of (27) teachers of the university in the workshop which was held in Erbil province for a period of 8-10 / 2 / 2015 in collaboration with the Organization of IREX.

In addition the meeting discussed the results of the experiments that have been applied in (12) departments , including the petroleum technology department as well as displaying the pros and cons applied in these experiments. The seminar came out with the most important recommendations of the need to train (2) teachers from each department at the beginning of the next academic year about the style of learning by solving the problem.

In the same time, the meeting has discussed the subject of debate (ABET), which regarded to self-assessment where it was most important to focus on the negatives and the obstacles that stand in front of the university applied in the departments. The university president has ordered to present a report  from each department in a week which should illustrate the most important obstacles facing these departments.

The faculty members who participated in this seminar are: Dr.. Ahmed Abdullah and Dr. Raed Naeem in addition to the teacher Leila Latif.
