Petroleum technology department set up a panel discussion entitled (Sustainable development in Iraqi Universities) On Wednesday, 8/2/2012 delivered by the head of  Sustainable Development committee at the University of Technology Mr.(Mokdad Abdul Wahab Al-Khatib) from the Center for Environmental Research. In the presence of each of the head assistant of the department and the head of oil production branch , the head of oil reservoirs branch, and a number of teaching staff and employees of the department.

The Lecturer  explain the goal of the concept of sustainable development in society in general and universities in particular, Also dealt with proper scientific basis which we can build universities and colleges based on the culture of sustainable development. The researcher noted that the value of scientific research that must be based on green development in order to maintain and get the largest investment of all the three possibilities which are natural , human (social) and the growing potential. During the discussion was emphasized on the necessity of preparing graduates familiar with the subject of green development and its role in society.
