Control and Systems Engineering Department at the University of Technology in cooperation with the Central Bank of Iraq held an educational seminar on the financial coverage in the conference hall in the department. The lectures were given by AthraaTaha and Nasreen Karim from the Central Bank of Iraq and in the presence of the head of the Department of Engineering Control and Systems Prof.Dr. Azad Rahim and all the sections of finance and auditing units at the university.

The seminar aimed to prepare this program part of the program prepared by the bank to raise awareness of the community in this area as the country seeks to expand the base of financial and banking services to various groups of society, where the resettlement of salaries of university employees part of this goal.

In addition, the focus of enhancing financial coverage is to support infrastructure, which is the systems used in that country, providing banking structures such as ATM, etc., banking awareness, financial products development and financial education.

Petroleum Technology Department at the University of Technology   organized a seminar on the importance of engineering applications, entitled "Apply PBL methods in engineering practice" which is presented by Assc.Prof.Dr. Raed Naeem and included the importance of engineering applications and application mechanisms and how to formulate the problem to simulate the reality of work. Workshops were held with the University of Missouri and in coordination with IREX to develop the reality of education and raise the quality of teaching engineering materials

Within the activities of the scientific and cultural activity of the second semester of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology for the academic year 2017-2018, the student of the Master Elaf Khalid lecture entitled:

Improvement of Dray Raduction for Water Flow in Pipe Based Nano Fluid

"Reducing the obstruction of fluid flow in pipes by adding nanomaterials"

Al Khwarizmi Hall in the department in the presence of the Head of Chemical Engineering Department. Jamal Mouna Ali Al-Rubaie and Scientific Assistants Dr.D. Khalid Ajmi Saker and Al-Adari A.D. Walaa Abdulhadi Nuri and a number of heads of branches and teachers and employees and students of the university.

In this research, the student showed that several methods were used to reduce the high cost of energy used to transport fluids in pipelines. , Where recent studies have demonstrated the effect of nanotubes as a reduction in fluid flow. The aim of this study is to understand how the presence of solids or nanoparticles in liquids can reduce the problems of friction losses in pipes. This study investigated the effect of nanoparticles as mitigating factors for energy losses resulting from water transfer in pipelines. Where nanotubes are added at low concentrations such as parts per million to the solution. These small quantities played a dominant role in reducing disturbance and causing a significant reduction in friction losses. The tested water samples were selected, and nanotubes used for water and nanoparticles were used in five different concentrations (50-250 ppm) The experimental system consists of four different types of pipes (a 29.6 mm steel pipe, a 18.3 mm steel tube, a 29.6 mm glass tube, a 29.6 mm L pipe), water pumping at different flow rates (1.0 to 8.0) ) M3 / h for each type of pipe and at room temperature (35 ± 1) o. In addition, the effect of the type of nanoparticles such as silica SiO2 and TiO2 was also studied for comparison purposes.

Experimental-Theoretical Study Seminar

Within the scientific and cultural activities of the second semester of the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology for the academic year 2017-2018, the master student Zainab Abdul Amir present a seminar entitled " Static and Dynamic Study of Nitrate Anion Adsorption from Aqueous Solution using Different Adsorbents" on Al-khawarizmi Hall in the presence of the head of department Asst.Prof.Dr.Jamal Mana, both scientific and administrative deputies Asst.Prof.Dr.Khalid Ajmi and Asst.Prof.Dr.Walaa Abdul Al-Hadi and number of faculty.

The student explained in this study the assimilation process of three phases in this work. The experimental work was carried out in the Perspex column with a diameter of 0.092 m and a height of 2 m using the Teflon plate as a distributor containing 42 circular derricks and a circular hole of liquid that was placed at the bottom of the column to study the effect of gas speed, Solid material on both residual gas, liquid and solids, diameter of bubbles and speed of bubbles.

Kerosene and water were used as continuous phases, and air was used as a dispersion phase. The glass beads were used in the diameter of 0.0038 m, the density of 2247 kg / m3, the helping factor from the kerosene treatment reactor located in the sump filter at 0.0025 m, and the density of 2070 kg / m3 as a solid phase. And pressure readings for different speeds of gas and liquid. Surface velocities of liquid and gas are (0.025 m / s - 0.65 m / s) and 0.005 m / s - 0.04 m / s respectively. Various operating variables include speed of gas and liquid, liquid type and particle dimensions. The CFD results were verified from the dynamic characteristics obtained from the simulation with the experimental results using anisys flonte 16.0. The yulian multi-stage particle flow approach was used to predict the overall performance of gas and liquid gas.
