Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Dr. Amin Douai Thamer, the Department of Computer Engineering held the scientific symposium entitled " Recruit of wireless sensor network technology in monitoring and servicing the Iraqi Marshlands" in collaboration with the Ministries of Water Resources, Health and Environment and the Department of building & Construction Engineering on Sunday, 26/3/2017.

The president of the university, Dr. Sami Abul-Nun Ajil, the assistant of Administrative Affairs of the University, said that the subject of wireless sensors is an important topic, especially after the wireless sensor networks in our modern world have become a scientific revolution in the field of wireless communications and spread integrated systems as a result of quick developing which it witnessed  integrated systems as wireless sensors connect the physical world with the changing amounts of the digital world

Dr. Saleh Al-Qarawi, Head of Computer Engineering Department, said: "The seminar aims at introducing the application of wireless sensor network technology to monitoring and controlling the environmental systems of the Iraqi Marshlands." The conference reviewed and discussed a number of projects and ideas that can be adopted to contribute to the sustainable management and development of the Iraqi marshes.

The seminar consisted of two sessions, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Najm Abdullah and its determinant, Dr. Riyadh Jabbar Sudani, which included two axes: the first axes about the requirements of sustainable management of the Marshes for L. Serry Abdl-Hamid, the second on the establishment of a continuous monitoring network and early warning system for water pollution and analysis in the central marshes for the lecturers d. Maitham Abdullah Sultan.

The second session was chaired by Dr. Bassem Abdul Baki Jumaa and its decision by Dr. Ayman Dawood Salman, which included the first two axes on the use of wireless sensor networks in monitoring the marshes for the lectures. Moayed Sadiq Kruk and the second axis on the use of expert systems in control stations Water treatment for lecturer Dr. Omar Najdat Captain.

A graduate student in the Materials Engineering Department, Sabreen Ali Abd Ktaie received her PhD thesis entitled "Fabrication and Characterization of Functionally Functional Nanoparticles"

The aim of the study was to study the preparation of nanotubes using the liquid gel technique and the manufacture of smooth and functional materials.

The results showed that liquid gel technique was suitable for the preparation of Nanoparticles and showed the calculated density of the results subject to sintering by increasing the number of layers. The measure of dimensional change showed linear contraction. As for the hardness test, it showed a hardness gradient proportional to the gradient gradient within the system and an increase in hardness. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed the hexagonal and spherical fractions and the results of the electronic scanner included a microscopic gradient within the system from a plate shape in the spherical to a spherical shape in the soft clay.

The discussion committee consisted of: Dr.Najem Abdul Amir Saeed as President and Professor Majed Mohi Shukr from the University of Babel ,Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hassan Attieh ,Dr. Saad Badri Hassoun Farid ,Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban as Members and Dr. Fadhel Attia Jaid and dr. Akram Rahim Jabr Supervisors members from the University of Technology and Prof. Abdul Wahid Kazem Rajeh from the University of Babylon scientifically and assistant professor Dr. Samir Ali Amin of the University of Technology linguistically.

The Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology organized a seminar on obesity, its causes and treatment, which was delivered by the physician Muhsin Ahmad Jassim from the Department of Public Health Nutrition Research Institute, a lecture on the blue hall in the center.

The lecture included the definition of overweight is the pre-obesity phase, and these concepts are linked to factors with a high risk of illness such as vitamin deficiencies in the body, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, etc.

The rates of obesity in our country are very large, especially among women, where studies indicate the direct correlation between bad eating habits and obesity. Therefore, we need to adopt strategies to reduce calories by reducing the intake of foods with high fat content and diabetes and increase the intake of foods with fiber content and choice Calorie-free drinks, reducing the size of the individual's food ration and planning for a sporting diet program with a change in the special stunt pattern
