University of Technology President  honor 108 female members on the occasion of International Women’s Day

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Presidency of the University of Technology held a celebration on the International Women’s Day on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Control Engineering Department, in the presence of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, the Head of the Communications Engineering Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Afanin Anwar, and the Head of the Control and Systems Engineering Department. Prof. Dr. Azad Rahim, Director of the Student Activities Department, Assist. Prof. Amin Thanoun, Director of the Media and Government Communication Department, Dr. Sari Tahseen Rayshan, Director of the Follow-up Department, Mr. Manaf Ali Kazem, Dr. Mona Taha, the chief of Women’s Affairs Unit, and a number of male and female university Lecturer.

The celebration began with the playing of the national anthem, the recitation of any of the Holy Qur’an, and the reading of Surat Al-Fatihah, out of mercy for the martyrs of Iraq and Palestine.

The university president gave a speech on the occasion, congratulating women at the university on her holiday, and directed that a letter of thanks and appreciation be presented from the university president and personally on his part to the honorees for their great efforts and their best selection by their departments, thanking them for their dedication and work at the university.

He said, despite the challenges, women continue to make valuable and prominent contributions in various fields such as medicine, science, arts, and at the University of Technology, engineering, science, and others. She shows her ability to influence and be creative in a remarkable way that contributes to the advancement and prosperity of society despite the presence of obstacles. However, there are persistent efforts to ensure the development and prosperity of women through tireless efforts to ensure that they have equal opportunities.

He added, “We notice a positive transformation that confirms society’s willingness to support women’s struggle to achieve their aspirations throughout history. Many women have emerged with success stories in which they were able to achieve their goals and the influence of the society around them. Thanks to their determination and creativity, many of these women were able to transform challenges into opportunities for innovation and positive influence".

For her part, the chief of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the university, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mona Taha, said in the speech of the Central Committee that she delivered on International Women’s Day, and every year we live a day in which there are many wonderful meanings in which sublimity is embodied and through which splendor and exaltation emerge.

She added: “Congratulations to the strong woman on the day when she will not accept injustice and insult from anyone. To the educated woman on the day she will be armed with the strongest weapon to the kind and compassionate woman on the day when a mother will only stand on her shoulders to the woman on the day when she will be a leader by entitlement and not an obligation. To the woman on her day and every year and you are well".

She extended her great thanks to the sponsor of the celebration, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, for this beautiful gesture and his insistence on holding the celebration of Women’s Day every year.
