Within the scientific and cultural activities of the first semester of the Electricity Engineering Department for the academic year 2017-2018, Lect.Dr.Mahmed Jumaa presented a lecture " Introduction to Molecular Beam Epitaxy)) at Dijlah Hall in the presence of the head of the department Assc.Prof.Dr.Dari Yousif and both scientific and administrative deputies and all the faculty.

The seminar dealt with MBE, which is a device used to make semiconductors from detectors, transistors and solar cells. The device consists of three main rooms, the loading room. Conservation room and building room and has very high build ability with pure materials of silicon, zinc, gallium ... etc. The device can be built with ten atomic layers per second with the possibility of watching the construction process directly. The device needs high requirements including continuous uninterrupted feeding and continuous cooling of liquid nitrogen, as well as high purity semiconductor materials that are loaded into the construction cells of the device.

At the end of the seminar, the discussion was opened and the questions and inquiries were answered

Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology held its Sixth Annual scientific conference for Graduation projects and Summer Training and to communicate with the graduates for the year 2017-2018 on Monday 7/5/2018 at Dar al-Salaam Hall in the Department. .

The head of the department, Assc.Prof. Dr. Jamal Mana, said that the department is holding for the sixth time annual student conference, which is unique in its presentation to show the scientific output, which helps the field of work.

He added that the department seeks to raise the level and efficiency of graduates with a moral vision of the profession, which stimulates excellence in research activities that contribute to the development of local industry

The conference included the competition between 18 projects of the Chemical Process Engineering Branch, 17 projects of the Oil Refining Engineering Branch and the scientific competition in addition to the poster exhibition for the graduation projects and the activities of the cultural and scientific students in order to enhance the educational and scientific aspects and enhance the spirit of competition.

Production and minerals engineering department at the Technology University grants MSC to the student Zainab Jabar for her thesis "Influence of Laser Beam Parameters on Hole Accuracy"

The purpose of this thesis is to study and analyze the effect of the force (600,700,900,1000) W with Cutting speed of (2.2.5,3,3.5,4) mm / min and  gas pressure (2,3,4,5,6) in term of using fixed factors with different diameters on the accuracy of the hole. The results of optimization of the surface response methodology showed that the expected value corresponds to the experimental values in a well and reasonable manner for the accuracy of the hole (95.96%). The results showed that the depth of the heat effect area increases with the visit of the parameters (energy, Gas) while the hardness of the metal decreases with increased factors.

The discussion committee was chaired by Assc.Prof.Dr.Abbas Fadhil from University of Technology, Assc.Prof.Dr.Ali Hussein from Baghdad University and Lect.Dr.Raed Rasheed from University of Technology as members, Assc.Prof.Dr.Saad Kareem from University of Technology as supervisor , Assc.Prof.Dr.Saad Hameed from University of Babil as scientific reviewer and Lect.Huda Hatab from University of Baghdad as linguistic reviewer.
