On Sunday 21/5/2017, the Department of Computer Engineering held a meeting of its General Authority for the academic year 2016/2017, presided over by the President of the University of Technology, Prof.dr. Amin Douai Thamer, in the presence of the Head of the Department, Dr. Hassan Jalil Hassan, and his administrative and scientific assistants and other faculty members.
The meeting discussed the most important developments and achievements in the Department during the academic year 2016/2017 and the teaching reality in the department and their readiness to receive the final examinations and the preparation of classrooms exam all the needs of students and the development of questions in accordance with scientific curricula, taking into account the scientific level of students and the difficult circumstances they go through.
After that, the university president presented the University's autonomy project to discuss it with the teaching staff and why the University of Technology was selected without the Iraqi universities and how to make this project successful and the mechanism of transferring departments to colleges according to the law of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
At the end of the meeting, some of the attendees posed questions to Dr. Amin Douai Thamer and some of the problems that hinder the scientific development in order to overcome them, wishing all the permanent success in developing the department to serve our Iraqi society.

On Sunday, 21/5/2017, the President of the Technological University, Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer, presided over a meeting of the General Authority in the Department of Applied Sciences in the presence of the Head of the Department, Prof.Dr. Ali Motashar Musa, his administrative and scientific assistants and the rest of the faculty members and staff.
During the meeting, several issues were discussed. The most important of these were the preparation for the end of the academic year and the preparation of the examination halls with all that students need to perform their examinations properly.
The university president stressed the need to put the exam questions in a systematic and scientific manner consistent with the level of scientific students.
Then the project of independence of the university was presented to discuss the mechanisms of its application and the selection of the university by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the transfer of sections to colleges like other Iraqi universities.
Then, Dr. Ali Motasher Moussa spoke about the mechanism of publishing scientific research in magazines and websites to gain access to advanced positions among Iraqi universities and issued at the university level.
Finally, the audience raised some questions and problems facing them and come up with answers and solutions that will contribute to raising the scientific level of the students of the department.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Zagir Salman who is a lecturer at the Center for Energy Technology and Renewable Energies at the University of Technology has published a research paper at the Journal of energy technology
Entitled: Study of a new type of solar water heater
Where the researcher propose a new type of solar water heater. Where the separate glass tubes were used instead of the integrated thermal tubes. The actual area of the solar complex exposed to solar radiation was about 2.96m2, which included 20 glass tubes with a 120 liter water tank as main parts.
 The research included three axes:
First, conduct the thermal performance test of the new complex in November 2014. After the daily test from 9 am to 4 pm, the maximum efficiency of the compound could be as high as 66% while the temperature of the reservoir water increased by about 25 ° C at the end of the day.
Theoretical analysis was performed on the equilibrium of energy for each part of the complex to understand the steps of the heat transfer process within the complex.
Third, heat transfer models were developed to calculate the efficiency of the collector, water temperature, glass tubes, absorption plate, and parents. The difference between theoretical and practical results is due to the great loss of heat during the experiment through the examination apparatus.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology held a workshop on "problem-based learning"
(Problem based learning- pbl-) at the late Dr. Jawamir Selim Hall, attended by a group of lecturers of the department, Dr. Ahmed Nayef Al-Khazraji, AD Dr. Nabras Mohammed
The method of pbl is relatively modern (more than 30 years) began in applications in the medical field at a Canadian university in 1977 and then began to spread in various disciplines. Its applications in engineering fields were applied at the University of Manchester in 2001 and later applied at the University of Missouri, which has a cultural and scientific relationship with our university.
The method is to transform the traditional curriculum currently used by students from different subjects to a range of engineering and scientific problems that are related to the curriculum and serve the social reality according to the type of scientific material.
As for the mechanism of implementation according to this method, the class is divided into groups of students each group containing (4-6) students, and each problem given to students should be solved from (1-2) a week, two or three hours per week after the problem scenario is given by Article tutor.
The student groups begin to develop a curriculum and a scientific context to solve the problem and each group has the right to ask some questions to the teacher to facilitate the solution. The role of the material teacher is general guidance and training. The student has the greatest burden in self-learning and in the spirit of teamwork with his group, which was established from the beginning of the course and has the right to search through the internet or the different libraries of the world. Once the problem is resolved, a sample report will be written by the instructor.
