Electricity Engineering Department Grants MSC
Electricity Engineering Department at University of Technology grants MSC to the student Ahmed Ali for his thesis (Power Quality of PV Grid-Tied System in Iraqi Distribution Network: Examination and Improvement).
The thesis which was presented by Ahmed aimed at using renewable alternative power resources where solar power systems were used as one of the solutions and more efficiently.
The researcher showed that Iraq is one of the countries which starts using photoelectric power as a source of energy within an ambitious project including the installation of 1 megawatt station at the headquarters of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity.
The first phase of the project was implemented, where a station with a capacity of 250KW was installed consisting of 1428 (sharp 175 watts) photo panels and ten reflectors with a capacity of 25watt each. Being the largest solar power station in Iraq, it was adopted in this thesis as a case study to check the performance of the station 250 KW from a quality point of view.
The discussion committee was chaired by Asst.Prof.Dr.Kasim Abdul-Razzaq and the membership of Asst.Prof.Dr.Ali Nasser, Lect.Dr.Jassim Farhood and Asst.Prof.Dr.Dari Yousif and Asst.Prof.Dr.Auday Ali as supervisors.
