Civil Engineering Dept.  Grants a Master Degree For the Student (Karam Raad Khalifa)

Civil Engineering  Dept. Granted a master  degree in geotechnical engineering to the post graduate  student (Karam Raad Khalifa )at the  Dept.  hall , his entitnled research.

 “Finite Element Analysis of Unconnected Piled Raft in clayey soil “ 

This thesis aims to conduct a coefficient study on the behavior and performance of UCPR foundations in clay soils under the influence of vertical loading. The simulation was carried out using the three-dimensional finite element method (3D FEM) using PLAXIS 3D to create full scale models UCPR (24) and to analyze the complex behavior between (the foundation The study examines the effect of the thickness of the pillow, its width, its hardness, the length and the distances between the piles, the use of geogrids layers at different levels inside the pillow, in addition to the estimation of the total precipitation and the varying precipitation of the mat foundation and the ratio of the participation of the pile of the mat foundation in bearing the imposed weight.

The results showed that the stress tolerance of the mat foundation increases with the presence of geogrid layers and the best location of the geogrid layer is above the top of the piles by increasing the number of geogrid layers from 1, 2, 3 and 4, the stress tolerance of the mat foundation increases by 15.8%, 27.7%, 33.8%, 33.8% ) Straight .
