The Department of Materials Engineering discusses a master’s thesis on studying the corrosion behavior of coating nanocomposite materials on a metal substrate.
Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology discussed a master's thesis tagged Study of the corrosion behavior of coating nanocomposites on a metal substrate.

"Study of Corrosion Behavior of Nanocomposite Coating on Metallic Substrate"

The thesis of the student, Mourouj Muhammad Shniar, included a comparison of the effects of adding )TiO2, Al2O3, (SiO2) nanoparticles on the phase structure and the microstructure of the nanocomposite coatings manufactured by electroless deposition technology on a low carbon steel substrate.

The experiments were designed (DOE) Taguchi orthogonal matrix based on the desirability (OA) and assessing the effect of factors using analysis of variance (ANOVA).

The desirability functions of individual improvement and multiple response (multi-objective improvement) were used.

According to the individual optimization results, the optimum parameters of the coating process (EN) are (erosion rate (0.120 mmpy), nanomaterial (SiO2), bath temperature (80 °C), coating time (40 min), micro hardness (516.2667 Hv) bath temperature (100°C), coating time (120) minutes.

From the results of (ANOVA), it was observed that nano-material has the most significant effect on the overlapping desirability of coating.(EN). The (SEM) characterization showed that the surface of the (EN) coatings is smooth, low porosity, and dense. Corrosion measurements have demonstrated that the wear resistance of low carbon steels increases with the presence of nanoparticles. (SiO2) The discussion committee consisted of

Dr. Emad Saadi Abdel Karim as president and membership of Prof.Dr. Basem Ajil Abbas , Prof. Dr. Nevin Gamal Abdel Qader and supervision of Prof.Dr. Abbas Khammas Hussein, Prof. Dr. Laith Qais Abbas , Prof. Dr. Khaleda Farhan Hussein, scientifically evaluated and professor. Prof.Dr. Nabaa Sattar Radi from the University of Babylon and Prof.Dr. Naseer Abdul-Hussein Nasser the linguistically corrector.
