Control and Systems Engineering Dept. Discusses a Master Thesis

A Master  thesis in Control and Systems Eng. Dept.  at the University of Technology entitled

" Sliding Mode Control Strategy for Prosthetic Finger "

The thesis of the student Hussein Shaker Majeed, specialized in mechatronics engineering, in this research aimed to create sliding mode control systems that are good and effective in controlling the prosthetic finger. The experimental part was tested with the actual parameters of the proposed system and controller where both the simulation and experimental test were the same with a difference of 10%.

Millions of people lose their limbs due to accidents, infections and wars. Therefore, prosthetics are the best solution for amputees. Therefore, artificial hands designed are very expensive and somewhat heavy. There are many challenges in designing and controlling the prosthetic hand.

The discussion committee consisted of :

1-  Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Alaa Oglaa/ Chairman.

2- Asst. Prof. Dr. Luma Issa Abdul Karim / Member.

3- Asst. Prof. Dr. Wissam Saadi Khudair/ Member.

4-  Asst. Prof. Dr.  Salim Khalifa Kadhum / Supervisor.
