The Environmental Research Center hold a symposium about climate change and dust storms in Iraq

The Sustainable Development Unit at the Environmental Research Center, in cooperation with Communications Engineering Department at the University of Technology, held the symposium entitled (Dust storms in Iraq – 2023).

The lecture delivered by chief engineer, Fada Turki, Geomatics Engineering and an expert in the Ministry of Environment/Information Technology Center.

The lecture included vital pivotal about sustainable development and adaptation to climate change.

The researcher discussed several varied important topics, focusing on the impact of dust storms in Iraq in 2023.

He highlighted the impact of drought and pollutants on the environment, environmental deterioration resulting from dust and sand storms, illustrating their effects on the environment and climate changes.

It is stressed that the sources of these storms are not considered local in Iraq, but the country is directly affected by them. He supported his explanations using satellite images and using remote sensing and geographic information systems to highlight scientific facts and extensive analysis of the environmental situation in Iraq.
