Environment Minister Excellency grants Technological University President with research team appreciation for preparing environmental pollution study

 

Environment Minister Excellency, Engineer Nizar Aamidi, granted a letter of thanks and appreciation to the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ghaban, and the research team from the Environmental Research Center, Professor Dr. Zainab Bahaa Muhammad, Dr. Ali Sadiq Rashk, Dr. Azhar Mahmoud Halim, Dr. Mukhled Amer Hussein, Dr. Abbas Jawad Kazem, and ProfessorDr. Ahmed Safaa. Abdul Hassan and Mr. Ali Nasser Ali for preparing an extensive scientific study on estimating environmental pollution for the Nahrawan landfill site project (estimating its levels towards calculating the costs of its deterioration and the economic feasibility of its investment).

Environment Minister Excellency praised the efforts made by the University of Technology in this report, which will effectively contribute to investing and treating solid waste at the Nahrawan site, which is estimated at about 3,000 tons per day, and using the gases resulting from the treatment in producing electrical energy.

In a related context, the Minister of Environment, Nizar Amedi, announced the establishment of the National Company for Carbon Economics, while indicating work to organize the work of investing carbon revenues from clean projects.

  Aamidi said in a press conference, to announce the investment opportunity to treat waste and produce electrical energy in the Nahrawan region, “Today we are facing a distinguished experience and work that falls within the implementation of the paragraphs of the government program and within the agenda of the National Service Government, as we are preparing today a real and practical implementation of converting waste into energy, which represents an aspiration.” The Ministry of Environment has always requested it, not only to highlight the civilized face of the city of Baghdad, with its history and authenticity, and to reduce the amount of waste in it, but to preserve public health from the increased spread of communicable and epidemic diseases.
